Atlas Vineyard Management is a leading vineyard management company with operations throughout the West Coast and Texas. We pride ourselves on high-quality farming, strong client relationships, and developing great people. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Viticulturist to join our Columbia Valley team. This role is central to our vineyard operations and will support our clients and crews through expert monitoring, data collection, and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Operations
- Manage and oversee the daily work of the Viticulture team, including Assistant Viticulturists, Technicians, and Summer Interns.
- Mentor team members and support performance reviews and goal-setting.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Operations to maintain high-quality viticulture practices.
Crop Protection & Spray Program Management
- Develop fungicide spray programs tailored to various farming styles.
- Generate work orders and audit AgCode entries for accuracy and compliance.
Data Collection & Vineyard Monitoring
- Monitor phenology and document key growth stages.
- Collect and submit soil and tissue samples; compile data and generate nutritional and irrigation recommendations.
- Conduct crop estimation activities, including training and overseeing techs and interns.
AgCode Administration
- Maintain and improve viticulture activity tracking within AgCode.
- Oversee timekeeping accuracy.
Pest, Disease & Virus Scouting
- Regularly scout vineyards for mites, mildew, botrytis, red blotch, leafroll, and other key pests/diseases.
- Establish and monitor indicator areas; maintain maps and historical records.
- Use traps and other monitoring tools as required.
Certification Program Management
- Maintain complete and accurate records for certifications.
- Prepare applications, maintain documentation, and coordinate with inspectors and operations.
Mapping & Vineyard Records
- Maintain and update the Map Book and vineyard block maps.
- Create new block maps for development sites and manage vineyard shapefiles in AgCode.
Plant Orders & Development Sites
- Coordinate replant and development plant orders with nurseries, operations, and clients.
- Inspect plant deliveries, monitor vine health, and manage replacement processes as needed.
Harvest Support
- Collect and track scale weights, maturity samples, and cluster weight data.
- Coordinate block markings, allocations, and documentation for accurate harvest reporting.
Trials, Reporting & Special Projects
- Create and manage viticulture trials when requested.
- Prepare annual viticulture reports and vintage season summaries.
- Support special projects based on client needs and seasonal priorities.
Safety, Compliance & Administration
- Partner with Safety and HR to ensure compliance at all sites.
- Approve time for designated team members and manage personal AgCode timekeeping.
- Respond to emails promptly and support intern recruitment.
Client & Industry Engagement
- Represent Atlas at industry functions and meetings.
- Communicate with clients as requested by the Client Manager.
Work Schedule & Expectations
This is a full-time, year-round role requiring flexibility, especially during the busy season (April through harvest). Expect 45+ hours per week, including some Saturdays during peak periods. Atlas offers flexibility for personal time when responsibilities are covered. Must be able to manage multiple priorities with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset. Pay is $81,000 and up DOE.
