Job Description

Children’s Health Council seeks a high-energy, mission-driven relationship builder to lead individual philanthropy—anchored in major gifts with oversight of the annual fund and events strategy. You will manage a personal portfolio of ~120–150 donors and prospects; mobilize volunteer leadership (Board Philanthropy Committee and Event Committees); and partner with the Chief Philanthropy Officer on Board relations and an organization-wide culture of philanthropy. You will refresh strategy across major gifts, annual fund, and events to meet—and exceed—annual goals. Success is measured by revenue growth, retention and upgrades, pipeline health, and a standout donor experience. 

Essential Functions

Major Gifts (primary focus) - 60%

  • Manage ~120–150 portfolio with clear cultivation/solicitation/stewardship plans.
  • Conduct regular visits; present tailored proposals; lead/support five- to seven-figure asks.
  • Partner with the CPO on strategy, briefings, materials, logistics, and follow-up.
  • Maintain disciplined moves management (forecasting, stage progression, portfolio hygiene).

Annual Fund & Events — Oversight (two direct reports) - 20%

  • Set strategy, goals, calendars, and integration with MG priorities; managers execute day-to-day.
    • Manager, Annual Giving & Prospecting: all annual giving fundraising campaigns including: direct marketing and digital communications mid-level donor upgrades, donor pipeline stewardship, management and development, c hampions best-in-class donor acknowledgements and stewardship in close collaboration with the CPO.
    • Manager, Events & Development Communications: 2 signature events and lunch and learn donor cultivation events as needed, donor-facing publications (annual report/impact stories), post-event donor conversion to gifts, upgrades, and long-term engagement.
  • Approve segmentation, messaging, and follow-up; ensure pipeline conversion and ROI.

Volunteer & Committee Engagement – 10%

  • Support Philanthropy Committee and event committees: goals, agendas, assignments, and peer outreach.
  • Equip volunteers with talking points; track progress and celebrate milestones.

Strategy, Data & Reporting – 5%

  • Refresh individual giving strategy across MG, annual fund, and events to meet annual goals.
  • Lead prospecting (incl. grateful patient, where applicable) and portfolio reviews; ensure accurate solicitor assignments.
  • Produce projections and dashboards (revenue, activity, retention/upgrade, pipeline coverage, event ROI) and recommend adjustments.

Team Leadership & Collaboration – 5%

  • Manage two direct reports; set goals, coach performance, support growth.
  • Partner with Finance, Programs, and Communications on case for support, impact reporting, and recognition.
  • Represent the organization at donor meetings and community events.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7–10+ years progressive individual giving/major gifts experience, including staff and volunteer leadership.

Compensation:

$140,0000 - $170,000 - Depending on Education and Experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proven record securing major gifts through full-cycle fundraising.
  • Collaborative, mission driven team player
  • Expertise in individual giving (MG, annual fund, events); PG fundamentals a plus.
  • Exceptional relationship building and communication; strong writing/proposal skills.
  • Data discipline and CRM proficiency in Raisers Edge preferred; forecasting and KPI dashboards.
  • Experience engaging executive leaders and volunteers; people-management 

 

Physical/Schedule:

  • Computer work
  • Ability to move about office and lift up to 20 lbs
  • Some evenings/weekends for donor meetings and events.
