The Budget Bureau works closely with decision makers inside and outside CDSS to ensure the Department has the resources needed to serve, aid, and protect needy and vulnerable children and adults in ways that strengthen and preserve families, encourage personal responsibility, and foster independence.

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the analyst provides support to CDSS programs in the development of the Governor’s Budget. The Governor’s Budget provides for the resources required to accomplish departmental goals and priorities which are focused on meeting the needs of the public.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance of the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmers’ markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor’s  Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. Headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

Statement of Qualifications - In addition to the Standard State Applications (STD. 678), all interestedapplicants are required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The SOQ is a narrativediscussion of how the candidate's education, training, experience, and skills meet the “Responsibilities ofPosition” listed on the duty statement. The SOQ also serves as documentation of each candidate'sability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. The SOQ shall be no less than one (1) andno longer than two (2) typed pages in length, single sided, double-spaced, in 11 pt Arial font. Pleaseanswer the following 3 questions:

1.Financial management including different types of funding- Be specific and address planning andmonitoring of expenditures, type of reports and tools created and utilized, the process you use tomanage data, and how you ensure that your reports or other documents are thorough and accurate.
